Conor McGregor's comeback ended in 69 seconds. His knee buckled on the very first kick.
UFC doctors suspect a torn ACL, and the mechanism behind it is the same one that injures weekend athletes on ski slopes and basketball courts every week: a planted foot and a rotating body.
New article: the four most common MMA knee injuries, how each one happens, and what a realistic recovery timeline looks like.

Be honest: how nervous were you before your first knee cortisone shot?
Does a knee cortisone shot really hurt? After 20+ years and thousands of injections, the honest answer: a quick pinch, a few seconds of pressure, done. Over 95 percent of patients call it mild discomfort, and 80 to 90 percent get months of relief. My new article covers the whole visit step by step, the 48 hour steroid flare, and 4 ways to make your shot easier:

"Should I wait until my knee or hip pain is unbearable?"
No. That is the most common myth about joint replacement timing, and it quietly trades good years for hard ones. There is no medal for suffering longer, and walking into surgery deconditioned makes recovery start at zero.
Your X-ray does not decide when it is time. Your age does not decide. Your daily life decides. I filmed a 4 minute video on how you will actually know, including the 3 signs I look for in clinic.

Knee Replacement Mistakes: 5 to Avoid in the First Two Weeks
The most common knee replacement mistakes happen in the first two weeks: doing too much too fast while nerve blocks mask the pain, quitting the plan when swelling peaks around days 3 to 6, and babying the new knee. A Franklin, TN orthopaedic surgeon explains what a normal first two weeks looks like, how to control swelling, and the warning signs (including a fever above 101.5) that deserve a call. Prefer his articles in search at corycalendinemd.com/preferred. Save this pin for your recovery.

The things most likely to ruin your new hip can be as simple as a throw rug.
In my latest video, I break down the 3 mistakes I see most during early hip replacement recovery:
1. Falling. One fall in the first few weeks can fracture bone around the implant or dislocate the joint. Clear the rugs, cords, and dog leash before surgery day.
2. Laying around. Surgery gives you the hardware, but movement and exercise install the software. Physical therapy is not optional.
3. Extremes of position. The implant is solid almost immediately. The soft tissue around it is not. Save the deep flexion for later.

The implants are reliable. The variable is often you.
What mistakes would you add to this list? Drop them in the comments and I may cover them in a future video.
