Q: What's the difference between Restorative yoga, yoga nidra, and just taking a nap?



My answer:

Sleep and rest are distinct physiological states. You can sleep and not be rested, for example. Yoga nidra is a "led resting" which involves listening to someone lead you.

I prefer Savasana, and other Restorative poses, to be practiced in silence. People go deeper into rest without being drawn outside of themselves by listening to words.



In the end, we all need rest and sleep.
