Last weekend, my wife, my daughter, and I went to Hollywood Blvd just to check it out again after a while, and it's totally different now. There are more street vendors, hustlers, and other things that tourists don’t want to deal with. Tourists go there to see the Walk of Fame, the stars, and landmarks, not to be offered some kind of scam. Speaking of scams, a guy walked up to me and offered me his CD. I said I wasn’t interested, and then he claimed it was free. He was very pushy, so I just threw the CD back at him because I’ve seen these kinds of scams before. He responded by knocking my cellphone out of my hands and then threatened me. He said he was a "real G" and promised that he would break every bone in my body. I was looking at him, thinking to myself, "I’m going to get into a fight tonight," but he was at least 80 to 100 lbs heavier than me and taller too. Also, I’m not young anymore. Maybe if I were younger, it would have been a different story. To avoid any trouble, I apologized, saying I was just surprised when he walked up to me while I was taking a video. He said, “Good,” and then walked away. Without my knowledge, my daughter had been recording the entire encounter. Anyway, my point is that these hustlers and scammers should go through some kind of screening or verification to ensure their offers are legit. As for the street vendors and others, there should be designated areas where they can sell, promote, and so on, so tourists can relax, enjoy Hollywood, and feel safe.
