I (Faroza Akmar) had the honour of presenting my speech on “50 Years of Emergency: Lessons for Indian Democracy” at the District Level Youth Parliament (VBYP).
This speech reflects on the Emergency of 1975 — a defining moment in Indian political history — and the crucial lessons it offers for safeguarding democracy, constitutional values, civil liberties, and institutional accountability.
Participating in Youth Parliament has strengthened my belief that young voices matter in shaping the democratic future of India.
Grateful to the jury for their encouraging words and appreciation of my clarity and fluency in English.
