Agniveer Dabhi Rakesh Devabhai, a brave young soldier of the Indian Army, made the supreme sacrifice on 7 September 2025 after a massive avalanche struck the Siachen Glacier sector in Ladakh. Hailing from Chorwad village in Junagadh district of Gujarat, Rakesh Dabhi was only 22 years old. After years of dedication and hard work, he achieved his dream of joining the Indian Army under the Agnipath scheme. At the time of the incident, he was serving with the 19 Mahar Regiment in one of the toughest and coldest battlefields in the world. On 7 September 2025, a powerful snow avalanche hit a forward base camp located at an altitude of nearly 12,000 feet in Siachen. Several soldiers were trapped under heavy snow and debris. Despite rescue operations, Agniveer Rakesh Dabhi could not be saved and attained Veergati while serving the nation in extreme conditions. His sacrifice was honoured by the Indian Army’s Fire and Fury Corps and senior military officials, who paid tribute to his courage and dedication. On 11 September 2025, his mortal remains wrapped in the tricolour reached his native village, where thousands gathered to bid farewell to their brave son. He was cremated with full military honours. India salutes the courage and sacrifice of Agniveer Rakesh Dabhi.
