India's first hydrogen-powered passenger train has successfully cleared its final safety trials, bringing it one step closer to commercial operations.
This Made-in-India train uses hydrogen fuel-cell technology instead of diesel, generating electricity by combining hydrogen and oxygen. The result? Zero tailpipe emissions—it emits only water vapour.
The 10-coach train, powered by a 1,200 kW hydrogen fuel-cell system, will operate on the Jind–Sonipat route in Haryana. During the final trials, it successfully completed 120 km/h high-speed testing, emergency braking, stability checks, and hydrogen system validation.
Could hydrogen trains become the future of Indian Railways? Watch till the end and share your opinion in the comments!
