A simple yet powerful groundwork exercise: the "Red Light, Green Light" game.
Here, it's not the rider who goes to the horse…
but the horse who learns to move voluntarily towards a verbal cue, calmly and thoughtfully.
This exercise is very interesting because the horse must move towards the human, whom it sees from behind. The focus is much more on body language, and vocal cues are associated with the syllables of the word "sun." After a few training sessions, the results are very promising.
An excellent tool for strengthening the connection on the ground while maintaining a light touch.
There are four distinct stages:
• the static position
• the distance
• the recall
• the halts at a distance
This training is based on:
• attention
• mental readiness
• the rider/horse connection
• choice, not force
