For the past few years as a Duke undergraduate student, Nana Osaka has studied the brain, focusing on how language changes after a stroke. She also performed as the Blue Devil mascot โ a role that depends entirely on gestures.
Together, those experiences have shaped how she understands communication and how a stroke causes language to break down.
