India successfully conducted a user trial of the Agni-1 ballistic missile from the Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur, Odisha, reaffirming the operational readiness of its Strategic Forces Command. Agni-1 is a nuclear-capable, surface-to-surface ballistic missile with a strike range of 700–900 km, designed to provide credible strategic deterrence. The Integrated Test Range at Chandipur is one of India's most important missile testing facilities, where several missiles, including Agni, Prithvi, Akash, and BrahMos, have undergone trials. Nearby Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Island (formerly Wheeler Island) serves as India's premier launch complex for long-range missile testing, including Agni-II, Agni-III, Agni-IV, Agni-V, and Agni Prime. These facilities play a crucial role in strengthening India's indigenous missile development programme and enhancing national security under the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Strategic Forces Command (SFC).
