A lot of the “old timers,” who used to fossil hunt at Lyme Regis used to skim the flat ammonites. The flat ammonite like an Oxynoticeras they would skim across the sea. You’d soon find them again when the tide went out! But certain species of ammonite like Tragophylloceras sp. In the old days were not sought after! Nowadays an Oxynoticeras sp. ammonite is very much sort after due to how well they polish up ! 💫 i skimmed this ammonite on a flat calm day to be anle ti find it again on the edge of the sea. I hope you find some fossils along the Jurassic Coast-at low tide as well! Sometimes fossil hunting turns out to be treasure hunting, especially when you are trying a bit of sieving. The Jurassic Coast really does have some stunning fossils. I recommend wearing safety glasses and sturdy rubber gloves when hammering the right rocks. Remember the cliffs are dangerous and liable to fall suddenly and without warning. Keep away from the dangerous cliffs. The best fossils are washed out onto the beaches at low tide, by the sea's actions. Look out for the slippery seaweed on the ledges and rocks. I offer fossil walks along the Jurassic Coast on the following website, so feel free to take a look at the website I made, with our online fossil walks ——————
