In this video, I create a textured ocean painting inspired by one of my favorite places, Lido Beach in Sarasota, Florida. My family and I have been visiting this beach for years for anniversaries, birthdays, and quiet summer weekends. The calm ocean, beautiful skies, and drifting clouds always leave an impression on me. I begin with a blank canvas and build texture using modeling paste to create movement in the waves and clouds. After adding a warm red and violet underpainting, I slowly layer the sky, clouds, and ocean to capture the peaceful feeling of standing at the shoreline and watching the water roll in. For me, painting scenes like this is a way to bring a little piece of the beach home. If you enjoy watching the painting process, consider subscribing and let me know in the comments what your happy place is.
