Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi issued an 8-point directive aimed at reducing petrol and diesel usage across all government departments and offices. Under the new guidelines, official meetings, workshops, and training programs will primarily be conducted in virtual mode to minimize travel. From June 1, all newly purchased government two-wheelers and four-wheelers must be electric vehicles, while petrol and diesel vehicles will only be allowed under exceptional circumstances. The government has also encouraged carpooling for senior officials, promoted the use of buses and trains for long-distance official travel, and planned electric bus services for employees in high-density office zones. Additionally, every government office has been instructed to reduce fuel consumption by at least 10 percent each month.
