The Vainakh Genocide: The Khaibakh Tragedy and Exile to Kazakhstan February 23, 1944, marked the beginning of one of the most brutal tragedies in history for the Chechens and Ingush. In the village of Khaibakh, people were herded into a stable and set on fire—animals and people alike burned alive. This act of cruelty was just one of many during which Checheno-Ingushetia was liquidated, its territories distributed among neighbors, and the villages renamed, in an attempt to erase the memory of the people. The exile to Kazakhstan became a living hell for the Vainakh: on cold February days, they were driven out into the empty steppe, abandoned to their fate. Hunger, cold, hard labor, and disease claimed more than 20% of the lives. It was a genocide that left deep scars in the history of the people. 💔 How did it happen? Why didn't anyone stop this tragedy? ❓ Share your thoughts in the comments. 📌 Don't forget to subscribe to learn more about forgotten pages of history. 🔻 Hashtags: #Genocide #Chechnya #Ingushetia #Deportation #Khaybakh #Tragedy #History #USSR #Chechens #Ingush
