Calculus (or tartar) is a hard substance created by mineralized plaque on the surfaces of the tooth. If not removed, plaque will turn into calculus after around 2 weeks. It is predominantly made up of calcium phosphate and survives well in the burial environment.
Impact:- If calculus is not removed it will irritate your gums and over time causes gum disease (gingivitis)
Treatment:- you'll need to have it cleaned off your teeth by your dental hygienist or dentist
Advice:- Effective brushing and flossing will help to maintain your oral hygiene
