Albert Einstein changed the way we see the world. Literally. Before him, we believed that time and space were fixed. After him, we learned that they curve, stretch, and compress.
He formulated the theory of special relativity in 1905. E=mc², the most famous equation in the world. He demonstrated that mass can be transformed into energy, and energy into mass.
In 1915, he completed general relativity: gravity is not a force, but a curvature of spacetime. This theory predicted black holes, time dilation, and the expansion of the universe.
He received the Nobel Prize in 1921 not for relativity, but for the photoelectric effect. He fled Nazi Germany in 1933 and settled in the United States.
He died in 1955 in Princeton. His brain was preserved for study. His theories continue to guide physics today.
