Merger or relocation of post offices like NDSO held in abeyance
2. In this context it is informed that due to ongoing exercise of roll out of IT 2.0, it
has been decided by the Competent Authority that the actual rationalization (merger/
relocation) of departmental Post Offices in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities is to be held in
abeyance until further orders.
3. In view of above, Circles are requested to ensure the following
(i) Actual merger & relocation to be held in abeyance immediately to avoid any
disruption in ongoing roll out of IT 2.0.
(ii) The task of identification of Post Offices for merger & relocation in Tier-2 and
Tier-3 cities may be continued and the list of identified Post Offices may be sent by
26.06.2025.
4. I am, therefore, directed to request you to ensure the above action on priority so
as to ensure smooth roll out of IT 2.0.
