Why do blackheads keep forming even after using cleansing oil?
While oil can dissolve sebum, it cannot break down the hardened structure of sebum and dead skin cells tangled together, such as blackheads or sebum filaments.
Therefore, although the black areas on the surface of the pore opening can be temporarily washed away (which is why many people mistakenly believe their blackheads are gone!), the clumps of sebum inside the pores remain. Consequently, the sebum turns black again as it comes into contact with air (the oxidation process).
So, to fundamentally resolve blackheads, you need to:
1. Break down the clogged dead skin cell and sebum bonds inside the pores (using BHA),
2. Manage the buildup of dead skin cells (using Retinal), and
3. Prevent excessive sebum production. (Niacin)
📌 How Gina Actually Seemed Effective (Intensive Blackhead Targeting)
1. Immediately after washing your face with a mild, acidic foam cleanser, apply a thin layer of Paula's Choice BHA 2% Liquid (can be substituted with a pharmacy product; I do not recommend pads or cleansing products, as it is important for BHA to remain on the skin for a long time).
This is done every other night, 2-3 times a week, and you should dab it lightly onto your nose.
On days when you use BHA, skip toner, essence, and cream, and apply it alone to "dry, bare skin."
You can apply skincare products to your entire face, excluding the nose. 😅
2. Be sure to gently wash it off with a mild, acidic cleanser the next morning.
3. I applied Nesipic Phyto Niacin Essence (5%) to my entire face, focusing on my nose, every morning, and at night on days when I didn't use BHA.
Then, apply a pea-sized amount of Derma Factory Retinoid Cream to my entire face as well.
I have been using Retinal Cream for a long time, so for first-time users, please make sure to start with the low concentration of 300ppm.
It is best to use Retinal as a preventative measure.
(*Please refer to the full video for detailed usage instructions.)
4. During the first week, as sebum rises to the surface around the pore openings and becomes slightly loose, gently clean up the loosened sebum with a cotton swab.
Do not squeeze it out too forcefully ❌
5. Also, since long-term use of BHA and Retinal can weaken the skin barrier, please make sure to thoroughly care for your skin barrier on a regular basis using ingredients such as Panthenol, Ceramide, and Secol-G.
Apply the barrier cream thinly only at night, or if it becomes too oily, substitute it with a serum.
⚠️ As clumps of blackheads are pushed to the surface, your skin may appear darker for a while. Since this is a cleansing process, please be patient and apply it consistently!!👍
