Those innocent eyes. I wrote this poem after spending time with my seven-year-old nephew… and realizing something painful about growing up. Children don’t manipulate. They explore. But somewhere along the way, innocence learns strategy. Wonder learns performance. And honesty begins wearing masks. This spoken word poetry film explores childhood innocence, emotional truth, adulthood, wisdom, and the quiet heartbreak of watching purity slowly dry with time. If you’ve ever wondered: • when we stopped being fully honest, • why adulthood feels performative, • or what growing up takes away from us— this poem is for you.
