A 19-year-old student from Bihar was arrested after allegedly gaining unauthorized access to NEET UG 2026 candidate accounts and attempting to divert refund money into bank accounts under his control.
Authorities say about 150 candidate accounts were accessed, reportedly by exploiting weak passwords and stolen login credentials.
Investigators said the accused changed refund-related bank details on candidates accounts without their permission. The issue was detected by NTA security monitoring and investigated by the Ahmedabad Cyber Crime Branch
Following the incident, NTA introduced additional verification and correction measures for bank details and warned candidates about refund-related fraud.
