Jacob wrestled a man all night… but when the sun came up, he said,
"I have seen God face to face." So who was the man in the dark?
In Genesis 32, Jacob is left alone the night before facing his brother
Esau — and a mysterious figure appears and wrestles him until dawn.
This stranger touches Jacob's hip and permanently changes his body.
He refuses to give his name. He renames Jacob to Israel. And Jacob
calls the place Peniel — "the face of God."
Hosea 12 calls this same figure both God and the Angel. Many ancient
and modern Christian scholars believe this is a Christophany — a
visible appearance of Jesus Christ before Bethlehem.
In this Kingdom Mindset Short, we investigate one of the strangest
mysteries in the Old Testament: Did Jacob actually wrestle with Jesus?
