Memorial Day isn't about the start of summer, going camping, drinking or cookouts. Its history dates back to the Civil War, When the women of the communities seen the slain bodies of the men strewn across the battlefield, to be completely forgotten by all.
Black or white, north or south, it did not matter. These men died in combat and would have been forgotten if not for these women.
Memorial day is about remembering the men who have fought and died in combat. May their sacrifices never be forgotten by the society they died for.
