New York City's iconic MetroCard has reached the end of the line. It will be out of service starting Wednesday. Introduced in 1994, the MetroCard earned a place in the hearts (and wallets) of millions of New Yorkers, who used it every day to ride the massive subway system. It replaced tokens used since the 1950s. Now straphangers will need to use a tap-and-go system.
