And we are trying our best to expose you to interesting information about every possible thing which directly or indirectly has been part of our life but we don't know their proper roles in our lives to be able to understand their importance. The Elephant is the most intelligent animal species in the world. Millions of years ago they were available across the world except in Australia. Currently, they exist in some parts of Africa and some parts of Asia, precisely a large population in India & Myanmar and a moderate population in Nepal, Bhutan, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, and China. Do you know how important Elephant is for the ecosystem and biodiversity? It's interesting how they contribute to this nature as the result of their intelligent acts. One example is how they dig for water during the dry season, using only their tusks. Not only gives the members of the group a source of water to survive the dry season, but it also gives benefits to many other animals around the well. When forest elephants eat, they create gaps in the vegetation which allows new plants to grow while on the other hand they also create pathways for smaller animals. Whether or not they think before eating, this habit is environmentally important, that's why so many species of plants rely much on the presence of elephants to disperse their seeds. Some rely on the thick skin and just attach the seeds to it, while some others sacrifice themselves to be eaten first and wait for being naturally sown in the animal’s dung. Elephants are travelers in nature and are able to walk up to 190 kilometers a day, they can disperse seeds effectively from one area to another. This way, indirectly elephants also help to boost the health of the savanna ecosystem by spreading plantations There is a saying in Hindi "Hathi Zinda Hai to Lakh Ka Mar Jaye to Sava Lakh Ka". It means "the value always remains valuable, even after death". Though this phrase was in the positive context that how Elephant serves the nature even after death, but it's often missed used for the ivory trade. The carcass of elephants also benefit decomposers which will finish up what’s left from the dead body that bigger animals can’t chow down. “The maggots take over at some point, and the whole carcass is just seething with maggots,” said Poole. While the spilled blood from the dead body creates an organic patch on the ground that will be used by microbes to make the soil more fertile. Even living elephants visiting the ‘grave’ can also give their contribution by leaving piles of dung around the dead body. .
