SAGA DAWA 2026 On the new moon of May 16th (Saturday), Saga Dawa begins – one of the four most sacred periods in the Buddhist calendar – marking the birth, enlightenment, and parinirvana of Buddha Shakyamuni. It is said that the merits of our actions accumulate exponentially during this period, with Saga Dawa reaching its peak multiplication on the Full Moon of May 31st. Therefore, during these days we dedicate ourselves to accumulating virtues, whether through meditation practices or vows that remind us of our commitments and keep us in perfect conduct, training our minds to bring benefits to all beings.
