I'm Elite Run It Once coach and a mid/high stakes online cash player. I love thinking, studying, playing, and teaching poker. I hope to improve your understanding of this beautiful game.
I'd prefer x on flop given board isn't great for Hero. Set disadvantage and a much larger part of the range is AK/AQ which is weak equity on this board.
Turn I like fold. Given your double blocking natural bluffs, you'll need this 25nl reg to start turning unnatural stuff like T9/JT/etc into bluffs. I wouldn't bet on that.
If you had a difficult hand recently, please submit to me either Discord or email (in channel bio) and I will review! I'll repost my analysis here. Thanks!
First let's range him. Likely all pp's up to maybe JJ. Suited connectors 56s+. All suited broadway and occasionally some offsuite broadway.
Flop: Against this range with ours being tight linear given squeeze, we can range bet here.
Turn: Now our hand is clearly to weak to bet for value, but also has good SDV. Check, call is in order.
River: The 6 isn't the best card for us as 78s get's there and 67s may opt to x back reducing bluffs. However, our blockers are superb. We block a lot of value (44, 45, A5, AQ) and we completely unblock bluffing range. That leads us to the next question, what would this rec bluff with?
I think he could merge with a hand like 67, 22, 33, but I also think there are a lot of floats flop (especially from rec) like KJs, KTs, JTs that would fire away like this.
Net, net. Given our excellent blockers and playing a rec who will have a much wider range than theory I like the call. Doesn't work out this time, o well. 🤷♂️
I would note that if this was vs a normal reg we would have a higher bar to justify call. It's because those blockers hand I mentioned (44, 56, A5, etc) should really not be in range. Against a squeeze it's a super narrow calling range like more strong pp and strong suited broadway. Not as certain I would like call vs that type of opponent.
SeaLama's shove vs Linus b100 cbet in 3bet pot is the exact concept I highlighted a few weeks ago (June 18 post). T8 is a protection shove for Lama. Folds out broadway region that has a lot of equity vs T8 and gets value from flush draws and some AK/AQ bet/calls from Linus.
