MPC MEET OUTCOME
• GDP growth forecast has been revised downward, while inflation projections have been adjusted since the April policy review.
• CPI inflation continues to remain below the RBI's target level despite global economic uncertainties and external shocks.
• The impact of supply-side disruptions is expected to gradually ease from Q4 onwards.
• RBI has highlighted significant risks to both inflation and economic growth projections, requiring close monitoring.
• Certain sectors of the economy have witnessed slower growth due to the impact of the ongoing geopolitical tensions in West Asia.
What does this mean for investors?
Lower inflation and supportive monetary policy are generally positive for debt markets and interest-rate-sensitive sectors. However, slowing growth and global uncertainties may continue to create volatility in equity markets. A diversified investment approach aligned with long-term financial goals remains important.

India Economy Snapshot – FY27 vs FY26
India's economy presents a mixed picture. Government finances remain strong, with GST collections rising from ₹1.88 lakh crore to ₹1.94 lakh crore and government capital expenditure increasing from ₹1.59 lakh crore to ₹1.89 lakh crore. Higher spending on infrastructure and public projects is a positive sign for long-term growth.
Consumer demand appears resilient, as two-wheeler sales increased by nearly 13% and private vehicle sales rose by over 12% compared to last year. This indicates continued spending by households despite economic uncertainties.
Inflation remains under control, with CPI inflation at 3.48%, close to the RBI's comfort zone. However, WPI inflation has jumped from 1.52% to 3.86%, suggesting rising input and wholesale costs that could eventually impact consumer prices.
On the other hand, some indicators show signs of moderation. Industrial production growth (IIP) slowed from 5.7% to 4.9%, while air traffic declined from 14.3 million to 13.8 million passengers. The current account deficit has also widened slightly from 1.1% to 1.3% of GDP.
One major concern is the rupee's depreciation against the US dollar, weakening from ₹85.9 to ₹95.71 per dollar in just one year. A weaker rupee can increase import costs and put pressure on inflation, although it may benefit exporters.
Bottom Line:
India's economy continues to grow, supported by strong tax collections, higher government spending, and healthy vehicle sales. However, slowing industrial growth, rising wholesale inflation, a wider current account deficit, and rupee weakness are key areas to watch in FY27.
