I'm a builder at heart, but I'll be having all kinds of Hytale adventures and shenanigans, such as making epic creative builds, directing hytale machinimas, fighting in tense PVP , playing fun minigames, dabbling in mods and more!

Farren's Tale

Its finally time to share the final Pirate Cove build project (for now at least :P)! Turns out this was a lot more than I thought it would be, so it took me 3 days longer than I thought it would xD

This was a lot of fun, I got to experiment with so many different little buildings and playing around with Piratey shapes! It was cool to do a build that I prepared for with more than one video, although knowing what I know now I'd probably have put the city into two videos because its huuuge.

I'm thinking about coming back to this in the future, I could add a Kraken, more ships, and re-do some of the building areas to increase the density of the buildings. I like the idea of coming back to builds again in the future to work on them with more experience and skill and maybe even new blocks :D

For my next videos I might try and do some different, smaller things, builds will always be a part of my channel, but I want to explore more of Hytale and share its wonders, especially with update 5 tomorrow and the new features it adds like a server browser and trigger volumes!!!

Hope you like the build and video, thanks for watching and subscribe to help me grow :D

Farren's Tale

Going back to a straight forward build (even if its huge..!) has been great after learning World Gen v2. In my latest video I'm continuing my big project to build a Pirate's Cove! This is sort of part 2 following part 1 where I built some pirate ships.

The island is going to be essential for the overall project as I now have something I can put a pirate city on. I'm taking lots of inspiration from shipwreck cove in pirates of the Carribean and images from the upcoming game Corsair Cove!

I decided not to do a giant skull, in lots of my references they were present on Pirate Islands, but I wanted to do something different, so I shaped my mountains a bit like Shark teeth. Should I call this Sharktooth's Cove perhaps?

Thanks for watching, hope this inspires your creativity to build your own awesome pirate related or not pirate related things :D

Farren's Tale

I'm back, after a few short weeks of non-stop World Gen V2 learning I finally have a video to show for it. This one takes you through the process of making my competition entry in Hytale and I had so much fun doing this. I wanted to dedicate myself to this now, because I think being able to use World Gen V2 is going to allow me to make even better videos in the future!

The project is live on Curseforge, and you are welcome to check it out! Its a bit slow to load and empty of things to do but its often quite nice to look at :D This is also a way for you to be able to get hold of three prefabs including my Airship build! I hope to keep developing the mod further in the future, so occasionally I might do videos where I add to this pack or make entirely new worlds!

I hope you enjoy the video as much as I enjoyed making it :D Normal build type videos will resume for a bit, although I will also probably try a few different bits of content soon. I heard update 5 has a server browser, so maybe I should try taking Laurelei to see what's out there.... xD

Farren's Tale

Hello! I have to apologise because this week I didn't work on a video but I promise I have a good reason! I mentioned on my last post for the spaceship video that I would be having a look at worldgen v2 and seeing if I can try learning it to have the fun of entering the modding competition. I have spent the last week diving head first into it and progress has gone better than I thought it would! Whilst complicated, I have made steady progress, and now I think I may actually be able to make an entry to the competition (although there are still some complicated bits to learn so keep your fingers crossed for me xD)

The key thing about this isn't really the competition, (it is still really cool) but what this means for my youtube channel going forward! Being able to generate biomes with worldgen v2 means I will be able to make custom biomes for my builds, adventures and mods in the future that I will be able to use in videos and share with my viewers!

I have been filming my progress, so I will be making a video of the stages I went through while learning world gen v2, regardless of if I can make a proper entry or not. It won't be a tutorial because I don't understand half of what I'm doing :P But I'm hoping it will inspire and show how cool playing with worldgen v2 is! Also, I can't just leave you with nothing, so here's a screenshot of the caves I've been making, with fullbright on to see more clearly :D

Farren's Tale

SPACESHIP!!!! With the current space mission and the wonderful new blocks in Hytale still feeling fresh and new I wanted to go one step further than the factory build in my last video, to see if I could make something sci-fi! This project was great fun and felt so different to everything else I've made.

I had a lot of fun filming this one, the little clip of the sScaraks was something we didn't really plan for, it just kind of came about when Laurelei discovered there was a sci-fi weapon in the game! From that I wanted to spin a slight hint at a story involving the scaraks, so I included the larvae near the fuel pump, and the eggs in the ship hallway and at the end. Leaving little hints at a small story within the video felt really good, and we've done a bit of that in previous builds, but sometimes its too abstract or brief for anyone to notice. However, I'd like to do more of that in future videos. This also got me really excited about future machinimas, I hope to be able to make some really cool ones.

Wanted to let any regular viewers I may have know that my next video might be a few days later than usual, I'm going to try and spend some time over the next coupel of weeks making an entry for the modding competition, as I've not managed to get as far as I'd hoped and give myself a bit of time without the pressure of a video to make some real progress. Regardless of the outcome I just think its going to be incredible for the channel if I can dip my toes into modding, as it will basically allow me to expand upon the current possibilities of building and do unique things on my channel!

Thank you my awesome viewers :D

Farren's Tale

I've been so excited about all the new blocks we just got in update 4! I'm delighted to share my latest build, a factory! This one took me a couple extra days more than normal, I'm also trying to use an extra day here or there to learn some modding stuff (but haven't got very far yet).

The new metal blocks are particularly awesome, and I've wanted full iron blocks in hytale since its release, so this has been extremely reassuring that we'll probably get all the blocks we could ever want in future updates! My next hopes are mainly on full and roof glass blocks so I can build a submarine and underwater base :D

This factory was strange, because at parts of the build I felt like it was going no where and was going to look terrible! Its definitely important to stick with builds, as the final detailing step makes a huge difference. I constantly have to remind myself that in games like every single block can be changed to any other block which means hope is never lost. The impact of the details and small changes in this build really helped it become what I hoped it would be from the start!

On to the next build! :D

Farren's Tale

Its me again! After last weeks gross maw build I wanted something much less weird, so I went for a windmill. I like to try and tell a little story with my builds if I can, so in this one I also build a wheat farm around it and some other little details.

It was also good this was a bit of a smaller build, as the day of posting this video is the day of Hytale's update 4, where 500 new blocks are being added on top of other great changes, like having player heads move with the selfie view :D

I can't wait to try the new blocks and share some cool building ideas using them with you soon, so make sure you subscribe if that sounds interesting :)

Farren's Tale

New video and this time I tackle something alive! This is my fantasy spin on the classic Sarlacc Pit scene, and I really enjoyed this one. This is definitely one of those builds I'd love to come across in the game, the scale and feel of it is great.

Building organic things is always tricky with blocks, and it would be way harder if this was mostly above ground, thankfully its not! Building something like this does help just bring ideas flooding out of my brain, as there's so much you can add when you start thinking about all the story behind a build.

I hope its not too gross for you xD

Farren's Tale

Finally Elves! Building in an elven style is so much fun! For this video I wanted to take a slightly different approach to normal by building multiple small builds. Making the small builds gave me lots of ideas and allowed me to play around, before combining my favourites to make something a bit bigger!

Turns out trees are kinda tough to build in Hytale. I don't have a lot of experience with them and wasn't very confident, but I gave it my best shot and ended up with something fairly cool in the end. Definitely need to work on trees in the future, maybe that would make a good video...

As always, I hope you enjoy my elven build(s) and it inspires you to have a go at your own elven build. One thing I didn't really mention but does get shown in the video, is that on top of the pillars/columns and ornate fancy details, often elven structures are depicted as closely integrated with vegetation, to show that Elves are in harmony with nature. So make sure you don't leave out some trees/bushes/grass when you make elven builds!

Farren's Tale

For my latest video I wanted to challenge myself, although to be honest nearly every single build I do challenges me in some way xD! I've seen some amazing builds of complex tower cities in other games and whilst I'm not building whole cities yet I still thought it would be fun to try and build a structure that functions like a village or town but is forced into a 25x25 wide square. I really wanted to try stacking all these different rooms/buildings on top of each other to end up with some that looks interesting!

Designing the interior for this one was tough, I got stuck a lot as many of the places inside were limited, and higher up in the tower the spaces became strange shapes as the walls all began to merge. In the end I think that's exactly the point of a challenge like this though, and I feel great that I was able to all make it work in the end :D

I might be making a few shorter/smaller scale videos over the next few weeks as I'm going to take some time to have a look and learn a bit of modding. No promises, but it would just be cool if I could both build and mod for my videos :D
