Yasmin was trapped in an abusive relationship for 9 years. Isolated and afraid, she didn’t tell anyone about the abuse until she turned to us. Our support meant Yasmin didn’t have to face abuse alone. We helped her escape. But there are thousands more women like her who desperately need us. And we want to be there for every single one of them.

Lucy was desperate to leave her abusive husband, but fear of what he might do made it feel impossible. Abuse can cost lives. Every four days, a woman is killed by her partner or ex-partner in England and Wales. No women should suffer or be killed because they can’t get the support needed to leave an abuser.

Lucy escaped thanks to our help, but thousands more desperately need us. When home isn’t safe, we want to be there. Please share our video and donate to our lifeline services: www.womensaid.org.uk/winter

Warning: This video contains scenes of domestic abuse from the start. Viewer discretion is advised.

Our powerful new video made in collaboration with @fabiodandreaofficial — Love Should Not Hurt — features our patron Mel B. The script was inspired by the real-life stories of survivors who reached out to Melanie after she shared her own experiences of coercive control.

An estimated 1.6 million women in England and Wales have experienced domestic abuse in the year ending March 2020 with young women aged 16-24 years continuing to be the age group at most risk (ONS 2020).

That’s 1.6 million too many.

Together we can help more women and children to escape abuse. Watch the video and support our life-saving work in England by donating what you can today ➡️ www.womensaid.org.uk/love-should-not-hurt
