Fast food like burgers, pizzas, shawarmas, and instant noodles may feel comforting, but they can quietly contribute to rising bad cholesterol and long-term heart risks.

LDL cholesterol builds up silently in arteries, increasing the chance of heart disease without obvious warning signs.

Scientists are now testing a futuristic one-time gene-editing treatment developed by Verve Therapeutics, a subsidiary of Eli Lilly, called VERVE-102. It targets the PCSK9 gene, which controls how the liver removes cholesterol.

Using base editing and lipid nanoparticles, the therapy switches off this gene. Early trials show major LDL reductions, but safety concerns remain under further study.

Rajasthan Royals may have accidentally created one of the most exciting opening partnerships in modern T20 cricket.

Teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi continues to light up the IPL with fearless batting, and Yashasvi has supported him well.

But critics feel Vaibhav's rise might have 'rattled' Yashasvi a bit. Is that really the case? Yashasvi Jaiswal’s reaction to it speaks volumes.

Instead of insecurity, there is admiration, chemistry and healthy competition.

Rupha Ramani breaks down why this partnership feels bigger than just an IPL opening pair, how Vaibhav may actually be making Jaiswal better, and why the Royals could be witnessing the future of India’s batting order unfold in real time.

Northern India is experiencing an intense and prolonged heatwave, with temperatures in several cities crossing 45°C.

Delhi and Lucknow recently touched around 43°C, while Rajasthan recorded highs up to 48.3°C this season.

High humidity in cities like Mumbai, Chennai, and Kolkata is worsening conditions, making nights hot and uncomfortable.

Daily life is disrupted, with reduced outdoor activity, rising power demand, and worsening water scarcity.

Hot, dry winds from the northwest are intensifying the heat.

Meanwhile, heatwaves in India have been increasing steadily since 1961, with rising nighttime temperatures and humidity, making modern summers more dangerous and increasingly difficult to endure.

The Quad nations - India, the United States, Japan and Australia- have announced a major new Indo-Pacific push during a high-level meeting in New Delhi.

The grouping unveiled plans for a joint Fiji port development project, new maritime surveillance initiatives and a critical minerals framework aimed at reducing dependence on China-dominated supply chains.

The announcements come amid growing concerns over China’s expanding footprint across the Indo-Pacific through ports, infrastructure projects and strategic trade corridors.

Beijing has already reacted sharply, accusing the Quad of bloc politics and Cold War-style confrontation.

The Iran war has highlighted the growing role of low-cost attack drones in modern warfare.

Iran’s Shahed drones targeted military and energy infrastructure across West Asia, forcing countries to use expensive interceptor missiles to stop them.

Saudi Arabia is now reportedly preparing to build similar kamikaze drones near Riyadh through a partnership involving US and Saudi defence firms.

The United States has also introduced its own low-cost combat drone called LUCAS, partly inspired by Iran’s Shahed design.

The report explains how cheap drones are reshaping battlefield strategy, exposing weaknesses in air defence systems, and changing military planning worldwide.

Tensions in West Asia remain high despite ongoing diplomatic efforts to preserve a fragile ceasefire between Iran and the United States.

Iran's Revolutionary Guard claims it shot down a US MQ-9 Reaper drone and fired at other American aircraft near Iranian airspace over the Gulf region.

Tehran also issued fresh warnings against any ceasefire violations, while Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei declared that the US would no longer have a 'safe haven' in the region.

Meanwhile, Washington confirmed defensive strikes in southern Iran targeting missile sites and suspected mine-laying boats near the Strait of Hormuz.

Talks in Doha continue as fears grow of a wider regional conflict involving Israel and Hezbollah.

Tim Hortons, long seen as a symbol of Canadian community life, has found itself at the centre of a heated debate over immigration and foreign labour.

Online slang terms such as 'Singh Hortons' and 'Timigrants' have gone viral, referencing the chain's large South Asian workforce and sparking accusations of stereotyping and anti-immigrant sentiment.

Amid growing backlash and rising youth unemployment, the company has launched a campaign to hire 10,000 local workers across Canada.

Tim Hortons says temporary foreign workers make up only 3.6% of its workforce and insists it remains committed to diversity, multiculturalism and hiring anyone legally entitled to work in Canada.

Tensions in the Horn of Africa have escalated as landlocked Ethiopia issues a sharp warning to Egypt, declaring Cairo cannot block its pursuit of direct access to the Red Sea. The flare-up follows a strategic maritime agreement between Egypt and Eritrea, which Ethiopia views as a calculated encirclement tactic.

The geopolitical rivalry, historically rooted in bitter disputes over the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) on the Blue Nile, has taken on a new level of urgency due to external economic shocks.

Crippling energy supply disruptions caused by the US-Iran war in the Strait of Hormuz have reportedly stranded 180,000 metric tonnes of planned fuel imports for Ethiopia, draining foreign cash reserves and forcing expensive spot-market purchases.

This vulnerability has supercharged Addis Ababa's drive to secure a sovereign maritime gateway, while Cairo aggressively builds regional alliances to curb Ethiopia's rising influence.
