Dr. Moritz Lehmann

I am Dr. Moritz Lehmann, one of the world's leading experts in GPU high performance computing using OpenCL/C++. I created FluidX3D, the fastest and most memory efficient lattice Boltzmann CFD software, using OpenCL. FluidX3D beats the largest commercial CFD solvers by a factor 100-2000x in performance, on the same GPU hardware. I published the entire source code on GitHub: github.com/ProjectPhysX/FluidX3D

I studied physics at Uni Bayreuth, earning my Bachelor's at age 21, Master's at 22 and PhD at 25, with summa cum laude. In parallel I graduated in Biological Physics at the Elite Network of Bavaria, and at German Aerospace Center (DLR). As a member of the OpenCL Advisory Panel I'm consulting the Khronos Group to future-proof the OpenCL language standard. I'm working at Intel.

#GTCParis had a lot to show off. Beyond all the sessions and presentations, most interesting for me, and I guess for you too, was the very big hardware to get my hands on at the exhibition and press meeting with Jensen Huang. Highlight was the #Blackwell GPUs. They ship either in the form of NVL72 rack - 18 servers with 2x #B200 GPUs each, connected by the NVLink spine with massive 130TB/s combined bandwidth, for a merely $3 Million. Or as the Grace-Blackwell desktop workstation, with Grace ARM CPU and a single B200. The B200 GPU comes with 180GB VRAM capacity at 8TB/s peak bandwidth - just barely enough to play Minesweeper. The Grace CPU gets modular memory through SOCAMM modules, a very welcome upgrade!
Of course there was also the RTX Pro 6000 workstation #GPU (basically an RTX 5090 with 96GB VRAM), and the datacenter variant of it with compact 2-slot flow-through cooler - 4 of them in one server alongside 4 H200 NVL GPUs with 141GB VRAM each. Need more, more VRAM!! I wish I had one of those at home...

What a week, joining two different conferences at once. At #GTCParis I met ‪@PezzzasWork‬ and Jensen Huang, and at #ISC25 in Hamburg I delivered the keynote talk to #Intel #IXPUG workshop. 🖖😁

I'm going to GTC Paris in 2 weeks, meet me there! 🖖🧐🇫🇷
I've been to virtual GTC before - great opportunity to connect with HPC/AI/ML developers - now first time in person. Looking forward to Jensen's keynote and the sessions from Jülich/Barcelona Supercomputing Centers, and CFD-related sessions from BMW.
Register for GTC Paris here: nvda.ws/3SVH0n6
There will also be workshops from Nvidia on Digital Twins, Accelerated Robotics, LLMs and more - and a raffle of an RTX 5090 GPU signed by Jensen Huang; to participate take a photo from GTC Paris show floor with #GTCParis.
