I proposed to Rachel over thirty-four years ago. When she said yes to my marriage proposal, she also said yes to the call. Rachel has been a loyal and supportive wife for thirty-four years and faithfully obeyed God’s call on our lives with me. Rachel’s consecration to God and her devotion and dedication to me has been one of the mainstays of my ministry.
The work was not always easy for us. We had to endure times of “hardness as soldiers of Christ” (2 Timothy 2:3). During these times, I saw the wisdom of God and the depth of commitment Rachel and I had made years before to God and each other. Because she and I always worked together as a team in our marriage and Ministry, we stayed strong, riding the call of God upon our lives, even in hard times, and by God’s grace, have remained steady and determined through the years to fulfill the call and finish the work God has given us to do. We have had great times of joy and laughter and times of tears. We have had disagreements and agreed to disagree, but in all of these, she always held up my hand because of her confidence in me due to her great confidence in God. Anytime I felt the Lord taking us a certain way in Ministry, she encouraged and supported me. It wasn’t that I was always right in every decision I made because I wasn’t. But Rachel supported me even when I missed it, and the Lord caused our Ministry to grow and prosper.
Of course, we know that unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it (Psalm 127:1). God is the only one who can bless a Ministry and make it the success it should be. But a wife can make or break her husband in his call in life. She has supported me in my call. Without her cooperation and support, I could not have done what God gave me to do. Rachel is that virtuous woman. My ministry is her ministry, and my success in life is her success, too. The Bible talks about giving honor to whom honor is due, and so it is with love and gratitude that I honor my precious wife, Rachel. May she be eternally fulfilled in life and, as Proverbs 31:31 says, may “…her own works praise her in the gates.” HBD, honey! ❤️... DR ABEL DAMINA
