"Inspect predictably, replace parts on condition, and never run your RC car to failure." That is my promise, as I downsize professional, high-end automotive workshop standards and apply them to RC car platforms.
You will learn detailed, professional-grade procedures adapted from real automotive applications, so your RC cars can be maintained to race-ready standards. Every method prioritizes precision, repeatability, and long-term reliability on complex, high-value platforms.
If you want to understand why a process works — not just copy a result — you’re in the right place.

Hi.
I need your help. I would like to know how much your UDR weighs overall. Mine tips the scale at 7,559 grams and I am having trouble getting accurate readings, which is why I am developing a solution to work around hardware limitations.
Your input is highly valuable, so thank you in advance. You will understand why in an upcoming video.

I am glad to see that the oil-filled rear axle has finally caught on. I had fun making this work in my home workshop on my spare time, three years ago. It also means that Vitavon keeps their eyes out and likely have seen my videos, which is pretty cool. It's a shame they didn't reach out, we could have worked together, but I understand they run a business and do what they can to be profitable. What's the point in paying a consultant when they already have a team of engineers?

Hi,
Here is a link to LIVE quali session of actual Desert Racing.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I5VA0...
Watching them is inspiring for suspension setups on the UDR. I am narrowing down a really good tune for my rig. A full write-up in underway which will be published on Patreon soon.
Catch you later, and enjoy the show.

Hi there,
The inspection workflow I showed in the “Cleaning is NOT Maintenance” video now exists as a free printable UDR Post-Run Protocol you can keep on the bench and use after each session.
If you watched the video and wanted the bench-side version of that process, it’s now available through rcworkbench.com.
All current subscribers have already received a copy, and as of now, all new subscribers will receive it as well.
It’s designed to help you:
- catch wear early
- reduce oversight
- make your checks repeatable
- spend smarter over time
The video explains the thinking.
The protocol gives you the workflow.
I hope this helps.

Hello,
Quick update:
Unfortunately, there won't be a video this weekend. I am waiting on a parts shipment, and I can't shoot without them.
I am still at a stage where I produce videos back to back instead of batch-filming, which induces this kind of delay. I am working hard for this to change so I can afford a bit of head room when it comes to regular releases, but it is no easy task.
I am constantly working on streamlining the process of producing videos, creating a legal business structure for RCWB, writing a Workshop Manual and Setup Guide for the UDR, posting the updates to Patreon, designing tools, modifying parts, working on two other project cars and an RC boat (spoiler alert). There is more to it that meets the eye, and so far you have only seen the tip of the iceberg. I build things intentionally, and this takes time.
In the meantime, you will see Shorts which I have edited from the longer videos. These are supposed to draw in new viewers to this channel, so they can discover the full extent of the RC Workbench methods which you appreciate. Feel free to share those with your like-minded friends as teasers to what lies within, I would greatly appreciate your help in spreading the good word that this channel exists for those systems-minded enthusiasts.
Thank you for your support through your kind and encouraging comments, your subscription to this channel and sharing these videos with friends likely to be interested in my different approach to RC engineering. I highly appreciate the time you spend watching my videos, crafting smart comments and posting on this Community Section. Without you, it simply wouldn't be worth doing.
I appreciate that you find value in what I produce, both publicly and on Patreon. Things are moving along well over there, as the upcoming Workshop Manual for the Traxxas UDR slowly takes shape. It should be the first of many more model-specific manuals to come in the next few years, as these give valuable insight to the reader about optimizing component life-cycle and serviceability, but also providing baseline setups based on experience, removing guesswork and avoiding useless expenses.
Subscribers to rcworkbench.com will be the first to know when it becomes available.
Patrons are already able to consult the Bench Notes and Working Documents to test them on their own workbenches. A friend of mine who is an industrial engineer is currently providing regular feedback, but patrons are also encouraged to do so, which helps refine the ergonomics of these documents .
Lastly, it is likely that I won't be able to produce anything before the next couple of weeks, as I must undergo an operation. Life throws things at you sometimes, you just have to deal with it.
I will see you on the other side. Until then, have fun in the sun and enjoy your RC cars.
Sorry for the long post, here's a potato:

Hi! In case you have missed it, here is the latest update about the rear axle of my UDR.
Now that you know how I cherish documenting processes, all the data is on Patreon. Moving one step closer to that full workshop manual, one chapter at a time.
You can read the notes and stay up to date with all the latest versions, being constantly updated as bench notes roll out.
A suspension tuning write up is currently in the works.

This weekend’s video isn’t a tutorial — it’s a reflection on why most RC paint jobs fail long before the paint ever comes out.
It’s the final chapter of the UDR rebuild, and it focuses on something I’ve come to believe strongly: results come from process, not talent.
If you’ve ever been frustrated with a paint job that should have worked, this one might resonate.
Video drops this weekend. See you then!

If you have missed the launch, here is the Mother of all technical Traxxas UDR videos. The only one you will ever need for all of your maintenance work.
It truly is for everybody: New, current and future UDR owners.
It is a reference. Use it.

I’ve had a few conversations lately about how I approach inspections before buying or tearing into an RC car.
Over time, I realised I was following the same inspection logic I used in automotive work, just adapted to RC. I’ve started writing that process down so it doesn’t live only in my head or in long videos.
The pre-purchase inspection checklist I use is now available on rcworkbench.com.
No hype — just a structured way to avoid unnecessary work and expensive surprises. If it’s useful to you, it’s there.

Raffall has done their part in randomly picking a winner, who will be receiving this UDR in a couple of days. Off it goes to the Netherlands to its new owner! Thank you for participating and for bringing this Community to life. It wouldn't be anything without YOU.
And don't worry, this is only the first of many more opportunities for you to have a chance to own a cool rig that I have inspected and upgraded. Some will be new, others used, but ALL will be featured on the channel, have a unique VIN number, and be better than factory spec.
You deserve to own, run and have fun with the best RC cars out there.
I wish you the very best in this festive season.
Kindest regards,
Geoff
