412teens is dedicated to encouraging teens and sharing pearls of biblical truth in a sea of spiritual sludge. We're a ministry of Got Questions Ministries. Our mission is to glorify God by providing biblical, applicable, compassionate, and timely answers to spiritually-related questions about topics of interest to young believers. We aim to encourage healthy physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual health in every young Christian we encounter.
The "412" stands for 1 Timothy 4:12, which is "Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity." Just because you're young, that doesn't mean you have nothing to offer. Teens are 100% capable of receiving and expressing God's amazing grace and love.

"Encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing." —1 Thessalonians 5:11 (NLT)
Look for someone who feels safe to you. Look around for people who are kind and respectful to others. They might be quiet or more introverted, so it may require a little extra effort to initiate a conversation. Quiet, kind people tend to be less distracted by being "popular," and you might find their friendship more meaningful.
Let friendship grow slowly. You don't have to share everything right away or do everything together immediately. It takes time to build trust. Often friendships are built on shared memories and experiences. Simply doing activities or spending time together creates those memories, but they often can't be rushed. Try to slowly, but consistently, spend time with your chosen people.
I would like to encourage you to be kind to yourself. You're not a failure for being shy, not having friends (or not many), or having trouble connecting. Meeting new people and establishing friendship can be awkward.
Keep going, keep growing, and keep learning.

"A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother." —Proverbs 18:24
While there's nothing wrong with having lots of friends and acquaintances of all kinds—no matter the gender, Christians or non-Christians—it's so essential to make sure you have a few friends of high quality. I'm talking about friends who accept you as you are, encourage and support you (1 Thessalonians 5:11), and with whom you feel like you can be yourself and who you feel safe with.
Friendship is built on mutual trust and respect. You and your friends should be building each other up, honoring one another, and encouraging one another's personal and spiritual growth.
When a true friend talks to you about a concern or an area in which you need to grow, you know their intent is from love. If they didn't love you and value you, they wouldn't risk telling you something you didn't want to hear! Take a true friend's rebuke seriously and with humility. If they're speaking falsely or with empty words, then that isn't a true friend.
Finally, remember that Jesus is the truest friend we'll ever have. He's there for you through all things and all the time. While He's the one who has brought your friends into your life, He shouldn't be the last one you go to with your problems. Make Him the first.

"Dear friends, if we deliberately continue sinning after we have received knowledge of the truth, there is no longer any sacrifice that will cover these sins. There is only the terrible expectation of God's judgment and the raging fire that will consume his enemies." —Hebrews 10:26-27 (NLT)
A "license to sin" is the concept that those who have been forgiven by God are now free to sin without consequences. This is a completely unbiblical idea.
Yes, it's true that Jesus died on the cross and rose again to defeat death and sin. Yes, it's true that His sacrifice resulted in the gift of salvation, which is forgiveness for all our sins, a restored, eternal relationship with God (John 5:24), and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38; Ephesians 1:13).
Should we go on sinning?
"Well then, since God's grace has set us free from the law, does that mean we can go on sinning? Of course not! Don't you realize that you become the slave of whatever you choose to obey? You can be a slave to sin, which leads to death, or you can choose to obey God, which leads to righteous living. Thank God! Once you were slaves of sin, but now you wholeheartedly obey this teaching we have given you. Now you are free from your slavery to sin, and you have become slaves to righteous living." —Romans 6:15-18 (NLT)
This passage speaks adamantly against the idea that we can continue to freely choose sin once we've been saved. Just because the grace of Christ has covered our sins, that doesn't give us any "rights" to live as we did before. In fact, to do so would be an insult to the sacrifice He made for our benefit.

"I have baptized you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit." —Mark 1:8
Unlike water baptism, baptism of the Holy Spirit isn't a specific act WE perform, but rather an event that happens TO us. Sometimes Christians say how Jesus "lives in our hearts" or how God "indwells us."
Another way people often describe being renewed and baptized by the Holy Spirit is being "born again" (John 3:5-7). These are just simplified ways of describing being baptized by the Holy Spirit.
Being immersed (or "baptized") in the Spirit refers to the Holy Spirit (the third member of the Trinity) becoming permanently present with us in our souls. This was something new, promised in the New Covenant for ALL believers in Jesus.
When we receive the Holy Spirit, we begin the process of being shaped into a new person, growing more and more like Jesus as we forsake sin and pursue God and His righteousness. While we will never attain perfection, the fact we have God's spirit living within us is proof that we're capable of improving our character and growing in our relationship with God.

"Temptation comes from our own desires, which entice us and drag us away. These desires give birth to sinful actions. And when sin is allowed to grow, it gives birth to death." —James 1:14-15 (NLT)
We've all been there. Peer pressure is so hard to deal with. If we do give in, we feel awful for not standing our ground. If we don't give in, we end up getting teased or having to deal with more pressure and pleading. It's almost always an awkward encounter.
Even though it feels like an issue exclusive to being a teenager, adults often find themselves in the exact same position—being pressured by others to go against their morals and values. That's why the Bible actually addresses how to handle the universal problem of peer pressure.
"You are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God's very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light." —1 Peter 2:10 (NLT)
As Christians, we're called to live differently from a world that has no problem with sin (1 Peter 2:9-10). Holding to God's standard to the best of our ability is a part of the process of spiritual maturity (Romans 12:2). Even if resisting peer pressure means a bit of temporary embarrassment in front of our friends, we'll eventually find that it's 100% worth it (Proverbs 13:20; 1 Corinthians 15:33).

"Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go." —Joshua 1:9
Many believers have struggled with finding God and felt abandoned by Him at some point in their lives. I know I have. What should we do when we can't feel God? When He seems to be quiet, does that mean He's abandoned us?
When we go through seasons of the unknown and the painful, it's important that we hold onto God's universal truths like a lifeline. One of those major truths is this: Jesus desires genuine friendship with you.
Be honest with God about your pain. Scream at Him if you need to. He can handle your heart and will handle it with grace and gentleness. But don't stay there—remember what God has done for you before. Some of your deepest moments of connection with God may come during dark times.
It's OK to tell God, "I hate this situation, but I know You're good, and You're my God. You know what the outcome will be. I trust You because You love me". Our feelings are fickle, but God is not. God will always love you, be with you, forgive you, and will always always want the best for you—no matter how far from Him you may feel.
