For millions, the answer is a Community Health Worker (CHW). These local healthcare providers are crucial in identifying illnesses early and providing life-saving care.

That's why we didn't just design a training course for them—we designed it with them.

In our recent webinar with Lwala Community Alliance, we shared how we used our human-centered design approach to co-create a relevant, practical and useful free digital course with CHWs for managing common childhood illnesses.

📣 New course alert! Check out "Becoming a Trusted Adult: Foundations for Effective Drug Education" today.

🔎 Research shows that traditional drug education approaches like scare tactics and "just say no" messages don’t work. Meanwhile, substance use among teens is on the rise, with millions of adolescents experimenting with nicotine, cannabis, and other drugs.

The Stanford Center for Health Education and Halpern-Felsher REACH Lab have developed an evidence-based alternative: "Becoming a Trusted Adult: Foundations for Effective Drug Education,” a free online course that trains adults in compassionate, science-based communication strategies proven to make a difference.

This one-hour training features 10 short videos that teach adults how to build trust, recognize warning signs of substance use, and engage in open conversations that motivate positive change. Created with young adults and experts in adolescent psychology, addiction medicine, and motivational interviewing, the course explains how to foster genuine trust and honest dialogue.
