Question: Why do political YouTube videos seem to get far more attention than music and entertainment content?

I'm trying to better understand how YouTube decides who sees my videos.

My channel focuses on artist and band interviews, along with new music and music videos. The people who regularly follow my channel enjoy the content and give me positive feedback, yet my videos don't seem to reach many new viewers.

Political videos often receive significantly more views, comments, and engagement than music or entertainment content. Is that simply because more people are searching for political topics, or does YouTube's recommendation system prioritize content that generates more discussion and watch time?

I'm also wondering if YouTube limits the visibility of certain channels or types of content. Some of my videos are blocked in various countries due to copyright restrictions, and I'm concerned that this may also affect how widely they're recommended. Does regional blocking or copyright-claimed music reduce a video's chances of being promoted by the algorithm?

I have no interest in buying subscribers or artificially inflating my audience. I want to grow my channel organically by reaching viewers who genuinely enjoy discovering new artists, bands, interviews, and music.

What are the most effective free strategies for reaching that audience? How can I improve discoverability without paying for promotion, and what factors have the biggest impact on YouTube recommending music and entertainment content to new viewers?
