Built In The WEST: The Podcast
There’s something special about hearing Montana history turned into music.
After sitting down with Cheryl Standish on Built in the West, we were inspired to create a 70s-style country western song honoring her family’s incredible legacy in Paradise Valley — from the Crow Reservation roots and the Pray Bar to outfitting camps, hunting stories, pioneer life, and the spirit that still lives on through the Pray Café today.
This song is about more than one family name. It’s about preserving the stories, values, resilience, entrepreneurship, and way of life that helped build Montana and the American West.
The old roads, the hunting camps, the grizzlies, the cafés, the ranches, the music, and the people who treated others like gold — that’s the heart behind this song.
Because these stories deserve to live on long after we’re gone.

Built In The WEST: The Podcast
There are some people whose stories deserve to be preserved forever — and Cheryl Standish is one of them.
Our newest feature in Rustic Elegance Magazine, “Treat People Like Gold: The Pioneer Spirit Still Lives in Paradise Valley,” shares the incredible history of Cheryl’s family roots in Montana, from the Crow Reservation and early outfitting camps to the Pray Bar, Pray Café, Yellowstone stories, hunting camps, grizzly encounters, and the values that helped shape Paradise Valley for generations.
This story is more than history — it’s about legacy, entrepreneurship, resilience, family, faith, and the importance of remembering where we came from before those stories disappear.
If you love Montana history, pioneer families, ranch life, Yellowstone stories, and the spirit of the American West, this is one you won’t want to miss.
