Pokémon Day sketch!

I’ve always loved the concept art for the early Pokemon Game Boy games by Ken Sugimori, and I wanted to create a fun scenario inspired by that sketchy but epic mood and tone

The Pokémon trainers are characters from Anna Fischer-Larsen and me, characters whom we’ve been animating and acquainted with in an epic battle (that is still work in progress).

This is also a #Pokefebruary illustration, part of the art challenge we started years ago in the studio. ✨

After Alethrion’s ghost separated Greed from its bardic host (Mik), the demon lost most of its power and shrank into a tiny little, innocent-looking furryball. But looks can be deceiving. And in the next chapter of Mik and Greed's story, you’ll understand why 😈

This is a conceptual story moment from a future episode with the working title ‘The Battle for the Bard’s Soul’, where Mik and Greed team up with Urracca.

We are excited here at Skjald to be working with @RayIncidentmusic to launch their new album Incidence. 

It was a challenge to produce a piece of work inspired by the sounds of the album, which was the perfect piece of creative inspiration for a metaphoric dark fantasy short.

On the team consistent of Maria Tarp, Vela Klittgaard, Viggo Uno, Svanna Christensen and Mikkel Mainz, we focused on an Arthorian- and epic vibe drawing inspiration from the detailed hand drawn artwork seen in 80’s fantasy illustrations.
