Sketch Dump + Updates.
Man i got a lot going on yall. Im wrapping up Rust & Retribution by working on the cover. I just picked up another caricature gig company, Goofy Faces. And I'll be tabling at multiple cons coming up.
Ive been working on new prints for the shows, and I'm starting the extended issue of Toilet Paper Trash. Im going to show all this new stuff soon but for now enjoy all the sketches!

I made this illustration last year to help promote my comic Toilet Paper Trash. This was a fun one to make. During that time, I was experimenting heavily with ink wash. I wanted to create a gritty feeling since the world of TpT is pretty messed up. I couldn't get the pose exactly right, so I took a reference photo, and that helped me out so much.
I will be continuing work on TpT here soon. I started working on Rust & Retribution with Brett Knighton, and then we created Open Inks, an indie comic anthology publishing indie comics and manga quarterly. I'm starting to carve out some time for TpT. I decided to make the first issue an extended issue. I already have 24 pages done from last year, and the script is done for the rest of the issue. I plan to share more about Toilet Paper Trash soon.

This page was really fun to work on. I used a lot of different techniques for value and texture. That third panel was an experiment and It helps set the mood I was looking for. This last two panels turned out really great. That first panel I got the idea from Mary holding Jesus, a few paintings and sculptures used a similar pose to this, and since this is such a dark moment in the story I figured why not try that out.

Ive been chipping away at this sketch for a few weeks now. I spent maybe a total of 6 hours on it. I wanted to push my self to draw something attractive, gritty, and have some monsters. So here it is the finished work.
The difference between the inks and color is crazy cool.

Have you ever talked about good memories with someone who isn't really your bestie anymore? Like they are still your friend but something happened along the way and you are no where near as close. But just for a moment, when memories are shared, you forget about the drama, for that small moment you are besties again. I feel like i captured that moment here. Adam and Tommy are in that position, they were besties, but the topic of animal hybrids has divided them, Adam feels sympathy, Tommy hates them. It doesn't help that tommy loves to gloat in Adams face about how many times he's beat him in a fighting match.
