Unfortunately I am again unable to do a video today. As many of you may know, I have been suffering from bad spells of dizziness over the last month. On Monday this was identified as an inner ear condition, and I have been given a set of head exercises to do, which form part of the treatment, and which I have been doing throughout the day. I also have a separate issue with high pressure in my left eye, and I had an appointment to deal with that this morning. This took up much of today. I also have a further treatment session this evening, for the problem in the ear. The head exercises are making my dizziness worse, as they are expected to do (it is part of the treatment) and in light of that, and of the two separate appointments today, I have been firmly told to rest. My big apologies for this. It has been a relief to have the cause of the dizziness identified and I am confident the treatment will be effective. I will be back doing videos tomorrow.

I am afraid that for the second time this month I am not going to be doing a video today. Unfortunately the dizziness that affected me on 17th April 2026 (see previous post) returned yesterday with full force. Since this morning I have been feeling very unwell. An appointment with my doctor this afternoon has resulted in more tests, and I have been instructed to take the day off. The condition appears to be caused by very high pressure in my left eye aggravated by a bug which is circulating amongst my family. My wife Catherine and my youngest daughter are also affected.

So very reluctantly I am not going to make a video today. I am confident that bed rest plus the medication I am taking will mean that in work terms things will be back to normal tomorrow.

In the meantime I would like to thank all of your consistent understanding and support, and to apologise that there will be no video from me today

This is a message from me to say that unfortunately I will not be doing a video today 17th April 2026. Briefly, yesterday evening I developed severe dizziness, headache and disorientation which is persisting today. I have just checked in with my doctor who has examined me for all the serious things (heart attack, stroke etc). Thankfully the dizziness and discomfort do not appear to be caused by any of those things, and it looks as if I have contracted another bug. I have been prescribed medication and told to rest. Whilst I intensely dislike skipping a video obviously I am going to heed this advice, so my next video will be tomorrow. Apologies to everyone and looking forward to my video and your comments tomorrow.

Message from Alexander Mercouris today 28th December 2025. This is a message about videos over the next few days. Unfortunately a visitor to our house over Christmas brought a viral infection with her and most of my family are now affected. The day before yesterday the infection reached me. Starting from yesterday I have been running a temperature and along with a general feeling of nausea over the course of yesterday I began to lose my voice. It is now for the moment entirely lost, which obviously means that for the moment I cannot do videos. I am terribly sorry and I apologise to everyone for this. This is a light inflection and I expect it to clear up soon at which point I will of course be doing videos again.

No Alexander Mercouris Video Today 25th October 2024
I am very sorry to announce that again, for the second time this week, I will not be able to post a video today.

The virus which struck me last Saturday, and which prevented me doing a video on Sunday, appeared to retreat, but then struck back hard yesterday. As a result, after a night of fever and coughing, I woke up this morning to find that my voice had entirely gone. My hope that my voice would come back over the course of the day has alas been disappointed. As a result I simply cannot do a video today.

I expect that by tomorrow my voice will be back, and things will be back to normal. In the meantime my apologies to everyone.

No Video From Alexander Mercouris Today 20th October 2024
As you know, I hate letting a day pass without a video from me.

However I have been taken badly ill with a nasty virus infection, which has been spreading through my family over the past week. I was the last to succumb over the course of last night. Today I have been struggling with a high fever and other symptoms, and I am afraid I am too ill and tired to do a programme today.

My apologies to everyone, with my thanks for your continued support!

These things have a habit of burning themselves out fast, so hopefully I will be back tomorrow.
