Wishing you all a happy and healthy 2026! We wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who supported us in 2025. It feels very special to have such a warm and wholesome community on this channel. We’re looking forward to creating more videos about Japan and the countryside and sharing them with you this year!
On that note, we have a new video coming out soon, but in the meantime, we wanted to film a Q&A for YouTube! So if you have any questions, whether they're about getting to know us better, Japan travel, life in the countryside/Japan, or anything else - drop them in the comments below!
Hello! Just a small piece of news that I (Aimee) am now working full time at japan-guide.com 😊 I'll be primarily behind the camera and editing videos so you won't actually see my face too much 😆 But you can always check the video description to see if I've worked on a video. I'm going to miss the team at Tokyo Cheapo very much but I'm also really excited to put my videography skills to the test and get even better at filming and editing. And of course I'm super excited to introduce many gems and less-travelled places around Japan! Thank you as always to all of you for your support ❤️ Stay tuned for more videos soon on the Roy and Aimee channel!
In our latest video visiting Kyoto prefecture, I made a wish that my mum and I would summit Mt. Fuji successfully on our upcoming climb.
Despite my absolutely tragic wish-making throw, we made it to the top! 🎉🎊
It'd been on my mum's bucket list for some time to climb Mt. Fuji, so leaving Roy at home (he wasn't fool enough to do it twice 😅), we embarked on a mother-daughter hike of the mountain. It was tough going at times, especially with windy and rainy weather at the top, but it was such a wonderful moment to stand next to my mum as she completed her goal 💪
There won't be a video from this hike but if you have any questions about climbing Fuji, feel free to send them our way anytime! 😊
We've recently had quite a few new people subscribe and we just wanted to say a big THANK YOU! 😊
We really appreciate all the lovely comments and are so happy to have a community that seems to enjoy viewing beautiful places in Japan just as much as we like sharing them.
With summer just around the corner, we've got lots of adventures planned! These photos are from our next video coming out - a sunrise mission to Hoshitoge Rice Terraces in Niigata ✨
EVERYONE!!! 🥹 We've checked off another big milestone, thanks to you all! It's been a long 4 year journey to get here, but the exciting times aren't stopping. We're so happy to have shared so much of Japan's beautiful outdoors, as well as our exciting life goals like buying a van and moving house with you all. So many good things just around the corner, thank you all for the comments, the likes and the support. ❤️
Recently we've had a few subscribers spot us in the streets and come and say "Hi"! Thank you to all of you for reaching out, it absolutely makes our day 🤩 If you ever see us, please do shout out!
Hello! We're still alive! It's been awhile since we've posted a new video and that's because Aimee (our editor) has been busy settling into her new job! She's now working at @tokyocheapo as their video producer 🎉
They make heaps of detailed guides for travelling Japan so if you're planning a trip or just want to take a sticky beak, check it out! https://youtu.be/3pGvOFooRn8
Now that Aimee's all settled in, we're getting back to making videos on our channel and we've got a couple of autumn travel videos coming soon, so stay tuned for those! And as always thank you so much for you support! 😊

Mt. Fuji has been checked off the list!
Over on @tokyocheapo, we hiked to the top of ol' Fuji himself, with Roy coming along as cameraman 🎥
