And there's more than just what's said in these slides. Conversational AI tools want to serve users through conversation. Creating quality content just creates competition for their platforms.

An example of the level of risk companies are taking? In 2011, Google launched the "Panda" update for their search algorithm, which penalized content using a hacky tactic called Keyword Stuffing. Nearly overnight, thousands of businesses who'd built their entire content strategy around this hack had their web traffic drop to 0. Many of them who were entirely reliant on web traffic closed their doors and went bankrupt. If that sounds very similar to companies generating hundreds of blog posts with AI, that's because it is. A massive wave of AI-generated content is creating massive problems for search engines, like Google, Bing, Yahoo, and DuckDuckGo. It's easier than ever to create content, which means there's more content than ever that search engines need to SCRAPE and UNDERSTAND. Google has long focused on delivering HELPFUL content to users, using a model that assumed content was written BY people, FOR people. It now has to scrape (and analyze) an exponentially-growing amount of content while having higher standards for quality and accuracy.
