Welcome to Academic Unwinds! This channel is a space where we unwind - playing survival games at that. Nothing better than a fight for your life to unwind. haha
Here is my current schedule for videos:
Tuesday: Going Medieval
Friday: Timberborn
Saturday/Sunday: whatever new adventures bring us. Mods, random videos, live streams (and sometimes none 😅)
Things may change and please leave a comment if you have any recommendations for me. Always keen to try out new things!

Seems like the votes are in and we're doing one series at a time let game. I'm thinking of starting with the oldest ones (although they are all very close) as of next week. Thoughts?

Making use of this opportunity to poll you all again. I appreciate everyone's support for reducing the amount of videos per week. If we're going down to 2 videos (+ 1 potential extra per week), I'm curious of how we should do it, so leave a vote.
As an example with Timberborn: I'm thinking we could either focus on one series at a time (e.g. finish Folktails playthrough first, then moving to the Ironteeth), or alternating series meaning episodes of Folktails, Ironteeth, Folktails, Ironteeth, etc. Still one per week. Same holds for Going Medieval with Ravehollow and Bannerfall. The streams could then pick up the alternative series of that week or that is currently not being played. I would ask you to vote again on which series to start with if you decide the former.
If you have a different idea, let me know.
As for why this is an opportunity, I've been trying to record tomorrow's episode of Going Medieval, but I every time I record, something breaks. :-/ So I don't think there will be an episode (will try again later though - fingers crossed!)

I want to think out loud for a bit here and would like your input.
I've been publishing about 4-5 videos a week for quite a while now, but I feel like my video quality has not gone up as much as I was hoping for and other things have been on the back-burner for quite a while. Honestly, there just isn't enough time in the week right now.
Part of that is related to my day job. Academia has gotten pretty rough over the last year (don't want to rant here; it all comes down to getting more funding to keep the jobs for the people we employ alive).
Anyway, with the increased job workload, recording videos has become quite stressful. Not enough time in the day, even for the minimal editing I'm doing. That has led to me getting up earlier and editing before going to work. I was trying to push a bit more over the past couple weeks in the hope I would get to a point where I could bring on an editor, but I can't make that work right now, so I need to find a better solution.
To be clear, I'm not going away. It is a hobby and I really enjoy learning along the way and talking to like-minded people, which is exactly why I don't want this to turn into a grind. So here is what I've been thinking about:
Instead of 4-5 videos a week, I've been debating to narrow it down to 2. That would give me more room to experiment with different formats and bring you more thought-out ideas. And then streams to fill some of the gaps and spend more real time with you. I'm thinking one a month where channel members pick what we do, and whenever I can manage it, an extra one with a vote open to everyone or even just to try out a new game.
I've been mulling this over but can't quite make up my mind... so... what do you think? Would you prefer two (hopefully) better videos a week plus streams, or is the upload volume part of why you are here?
Let me know below... I could really use the help figuring this out.

Hey y'all, just a quick heads-up. First: videos are coming out as usual this week. But I'll be taking a few days off. Work has been quite stressful, so it's time to recover. Like I said, videos are still coming out, but I won't be as responsive this week. Important to take care of oneself. Thanks for understanding :)

Hey Timberborners! Can you guess what it is?
I meant to put out a video today about the new Rainborn update, but work has been pretty intense and I'm in the last steps of it. I'll start shooting the footage soon and am hoping I will be able to get it out today. In the meantime, here is a little sneak peek of what is to come.
In case you missed it, here I'm introducing weather to Timberborn: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=thJb-...

Sorry Going Medieval friends, I need to switch up today's schedule and release the next video tomorrow. I got too absorbed in creating a mod (for Timberborn) that makes it rain and lost track of time. Dropping that video soon instead.
I appreciate your patience and if you feel up for it, even if you don't play Timberborn, go check it out. :)

I realized today that I need a new soundtrack for my going medieval series'. Any suggestions? Ideally downloadable and free to use :)

I was trying to rework the release schedule a bit this week, as I think it is time to bring back Timberborn Tuesdays. So today's Manor Lord episode will come out on Saturday.
Now here is the deal though... I was working on a special video for today, but I ran out of time and couldn't edit it on time. So I'll be releasing the New Cattail Falls video meant for Friday today already, while I move the last pieces of the other video in place. Hope you enjoy :)

Also, new schedule:
Tuesday: Timberborn
Wednesday: Going Medieval
Friday: Timberborn
Saturday: Manor Lords
Sunday: Going Medieval
Once Manor Lords is done, we're going to reinvent this a little bit more, but I also want your input on that. So stay tuned.
