Moise Kouame became the youngest man to win a match at Roland Garros since 1991 after the 17-year-old wildcard defeated former US Open champion Marin Cilic 7-6 6-1 6-1 in straight sets on his Grand Slam debut.

The Paris-born teenager, whose parents are from Cameroon and Ivory Coast, is also the youngest man to win a Grand Slam match since a 16-year-old Bernard Tomic reached the second round of the 2009 Australian Open.

Coached by former French star Richard Gasquet, Kouame’s breakthrough performance has sparked excitement that Roland Garros may have witnessed the rise of a new star.

The US has sanctioned a senior Tanzanian police official over allegations linked to the "torture and sexual assault" of East African rights activists Boniface Mwangi and Agather Atuhaire last year: bbc.in/4nIlPUh

In a statement, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the State Department had designated Faustine Jackson Mafwele based on "credible information that he was involved in gross violations of human rights".

The sanctions come amid growing scrutiny of Tanzania's human rights record, with US lawmakers calling for tougher action.

New parents may not be losing as much sleep as many people think.

A 2024 US survey found parents with children under six still spend between eight and nine hours in bed each night - within the recommended range.
