I have an irrational hatred of being told when to celebrate things. So naturally, today I’m both angry and fully participating. Anyway… happy May Fourth. I guess.
Facebook, Youtube and Tik Tok have long used addictive algorithms targeting viewers emotions, hooking them into destructive viewing habits. Our federal government has always lacked the will to regulate these companies (or perhaps they are too greedy) ....luckily us Americans love suing each other! And now we're finally having a discussion about how these algorithms were created and how they affect viewers.
Lets hope this is the beginning of something bigger.
Always be cognizant of what you are consuming on the internet. Ask yourself if the content you're watching makes you feel negative or burns you out? Our society has becoming increasingly careful about what we eat and drink, this mindset should also be applied to the information we ingest as well.
Tom Hardy wants to be in Star Wars again and not just as a stormtrooper, so here’s the idea. Todd Phillips or Adam McKay directs. It’s a buddy Jedi space cop movie.
Ethan Hawke plays Corran Horn, a deeply exhausted Jedi who still believes in the job the way a burned out civil servant believes in public service. He’s calm, procedural, and almost Obi Wan in temperament, not because he’s serene, but because he’s seen what happens when idiots like his partner Kyp Durron are allowed to improvise. Corran can’t use Force telekinesis, so he compensates by carrying a heavy blaster, which makes him hilariously un Jedi and far more violent than he is comfortable admitting. He believes in restraint, paperwork, and protecting ordinary people who did not ask to be part of galactic history. He is the good Jedi, mostly because someone has to be.
Then there’s the partner, Kyp Durron, played by Tom Hardy. This is Kyp before his near death experience fighting the Yuuzhan Vong. He is raw power, endless confidence, and deeply questionable judgment. Cocky, aggressive, and a brutally skilled fighter, Kyp is the guy everyone quietly agrees is a problem but keeps deploying anyway because he gets results. He is constantly fighting the dark side voices in his head, mostly by yelling over them and doing whatever he was already planning to do. Very much an Anakin type character who thrives on instinct, speed, and overwhelming force.
One of the last western movies released in Iran before the revolution in 1979. Iranian star wars fans never got to see the rest of the original trilogy, instead they had to live it in real life. Godspeed my Persian friends the world awaits your return.

To all our veterans, you’ve set a standard of courage and integrity for all Americans to follow.
No matter the politics of the moment, your service reminds us that true duty is to one another.
May you always find the respect, dignity, and peace in this nation that you so selflessly served and sacrificed for.
