So when I first started YouTube and saw timestamps pop up in my comment section I thought it was rude and wanted to delete them but I was like I'm new maybe I'm misunderstanding it. So I heart it and just watched how things work trying to get understanding. At that point it was 1 or 2 people doing it.
Then overtime I started to learn about analytics and how that actually hurts the creators. So all your faves that should have way more subscribers than they do (which is a lot of ice creators that should be way bigger than they are) that what's hurting them, that's a big part.
It's actually against YouTube guidelines to put up stamps like that, that's why YouTube will delete their stamps sometimes while their in the middle of making them. YouTube added the stamp button for people to put 1 to 3 stamps that they like and say something or certain parts they want to talk about.
You have people doing the stamps and not even watching it either. There can be a 20min video posted and they have time stamps for the full video for 3mins because they put it on 2x speed or more just to see when you lift your hands. YouTube goes of continuous views not off and on views they don't add those up. So if someone makes 30 stamps and 100 ppl only use those, that shows YouTube 3k people left your video early and it takes it as they don't like it, the video isn't doing good, so they don't push your videos or channel out to others which is where growth and revenue come from. So just because you only see 30 or 50 likes on someone's timestamps it doesn't mean 3k people didn't actually watch only those. That messes our analytics all up and that hurts. Eventhough it hurts me I let it go because yall like it but it hurt me and I didn't want to go back and forth with people about it. Then it started being 4-5 people putting stamps
Then I saw people who steal videos or the editing channels that take videos etc say to the timestampers that I use your stamps to make my video and the stampers didn't say stop don't do that knowing what they're doing it. They hearted their comments and like it. So now I don't know who helping the video stealers so now I just treat them all the same to be fair since I can't tell who is who
And like you said they're going to do it regardless why not just be polite and like it because I don't like it and never have and don't agree with it and if I ask them to stop or delete them they're not going to be polite or care how it hurts me or other creators their going to keep doing it. So me not hearting them is me standing up for what I believe in. I let them stay up there Eventhough I should delete them I think thats nice enough, especially knowing how bad my numbers are because of it.
I want to like the ones that are doing it right 1 or 3 stamps and writing about it but I just don't want to go back and forth with then ones doing it wrong. So I don't like theirs either and that sucks.
But I don't look at their stamps never did or ever used their stamps for my videos when I made bites videos. I sit and watch my own video fully Eventhough I couldn't stand watching myself lol.
