Heroes Next Door takes an INSIDE Look at the lives of those who serve selflessly: 👮 police officers, 🚒 firefighters, 🚑 EMTs and paramedics, and 📞 dispatchers. These brave men and women show up in the darkest moments to protect, rescue, save, and care.They are the ones running in when others are running out. They truly fight what others fear. Through the Stories, Trainings (Day in the Life), Stations (Cribs), Vehicles and Apparatus (Rigs), and tools they use, we invite you to see the commitment behind the uniform. Above all, we remember the greatest example—✝️ Jesus, who ran toward our brokenness, showed up in our darkest moment, and gave His life so we could live. We serve because He served first. John 3:16.

Over the past month or two, you may have noticed that the Heroes Next Door channel hasn’t released much new content. Mike was recently promoted to Lieutenant at his full-time job, which has kept him extremely busy and limited the time available to travel and film.
For the past five years, Mike has used a large amount of his personal PTO to build this channel, travel to departments, and bring you the behind-the-scenes stories of the fire service. Heroes Next Door is something we care deeply about, and we are absolutely continuing to grow it.
The next stop for us will be FDIC 2026, where we’ll be filming, meeting firefighters, connecting with companies, and lining up departments to visit throughout the 2026 season.

Today is a day of profound sadness as we mourn the loss of Corporal Timothy J. O’Connor Jr., a dedicated 15-year veteran of the Pennsylvania State Police, taken from us in the line of duty on March 8, 2026.
Yet, in the midst of this grief, today’s events also reaffirm why I chose so many years ago to serve in public service. Thousands gathered with honor and respect to support Tim’s family, demonstrating the unbreakable bonds and extended family forged across law enforcement and first responder communities, an unparalleled brotherhood and sisterhood that unites us in both life and death.
Though I only knew Tim in passing through our shared work, his hard work, commitment, and the life he chose connect us forever.
Rest in peace, Tim. Now it’s our turn to take care of your family.
