Hey, I'm Alex! I help grown-up nerds get into Warhammer, LOTR, D&D, Star Wars, and board games - without the overwhelm, the gatekeeping, or needing to spend 100 hours on a wiki first. If you've always loved these worlds but never quite felt like you belonged in them, you're in exactly the right place. New videos every week!

JUDGEMENTAL FAMILY MEMBERS/FRIENDS
Last Christmas someone watched me open a gift and said "oh did you accidentally wrap one of the kids presents for Alex?" in front of the whole family.
Everyone laughed. I didn't.
Because what they were really saying is that caring about this stuff is childish. That you should've grown out of it. That there's something slightly embarrassing about a grown person getting excited about a hobby.
I disagree. The people who say that usually don't have anything they're genuinely passionate about. They've forgotten what it feels like to care about something for the joy of it.
You haven't. And that's worth protecting.

NOSTALGIA SELLS. THAT DOESN'T MEAN IT'S WORTH BUYING.
The hobby industry has worked out that nostalgia sells. The question is whether it's selling you something worth buying.
2026 is full of franchise board games. Star Wars. Lord of the Rings. Marvel. Some of them are genuinely great. Most of them are expensive cardboard with a famous logo on the lid. Yes I said it.
The people I see get the most out of this hobby buy one thing, play it properly, and go from there.
Not the ones with a shelf full of unopened boxes shouting "take my money" and filming content with stuff they don't even open.
So tell me which franchise game would you actually recommend to someone chasing that nostalgia hit? Drop it in the comments.

THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE KING'S GAMBIT
I want to know how you feel about this.
Restoration Games are bringing back Star Wars: The Queen's Gambit, a cult classic that went out of print in 2000, but this time set in the world of Lord of the Rings!!
The game spans four simultaneous battlefronts from The Return of the King, Pelennor Fields, Minas Tirith, Pelargir, and Frodo and Sam's climb into Mordor and they all playing out on the same table at the same time. The deluxe edition has a three dimensional Minas Tirith and Mordor rising above the board. It looks NEXT LEVEL.
Full details here: restorationgames.com/press-release-the-lord-of-theā¦
Is this something you'd back? Drop a comment - genuinely curious how much interest there is for this one.

D&D AND THE SEASON OF HORROR
Honest take: D&D and I have a complicated relationship.
I used to love it. Then life got in the way, the game changed, and every time I tried to get back in it felt like turning up late to a party where everyone already knows each other.
So when Wizards of the Coast drop something like Ravenloft: The Horrors Within - sixteen Domains of Dread, gothic horror, a completely different atmosphere to the standard fantasy stuff... part of me thinks this could actually be the way back in?
Or maybe I'm just getting excited about something I won't play.
What do you reckon? Has D&D lost you too, or are you still at the table? And does this news do anything for you?

ARMAGEDDON - WARHAMMER 40,000 - 11TH EDITION
Games Workshop are calling the Armageddon box the most beginner friendly starter set they've ever made.
That's a bold claim.
If you've picked one up already I want to know what you actually think. Is it as accessible as they're saying? Did it make sense straight out of the box or did you find yourself Googling things within the first ten minutes?
And if you've been thinking about getting into Warhammer 40K, drop a question below. Between us we can probably answer it.

WHAT DO YOU ACTUALLY COME HERE FOR?
Genuinely asking.
I know what I enjoy making. Lore, the real history behind the fiction, getting into hobbies without the overwhelm. The Tolkien stuff, the 40K stuff, the occasional chaotic painting video.
But I want to know what you actually come here for. What made you subscribe. What you want more of. What you'd quietly like me to stop doing.
You don't have to be gentle. I can take it. (that's what she said)
The channel gets better when I know what's actually landing. So drop it in the comments.
And if you're seeing this without being subscribed, that's the button. Right there.

PATREON AND SEPARATE COMMUNITY SPACES: CONNECTION OR BARRIER?
A lot of creators are building spaces away from YouTube. Patreon, Discord, memberships.
For some people that feels like being asked to pay twice. For others it feels like finally getting access to the real version of someone they already trust.
I've been thinking about this for my own channel. Things like reading groups, behind the scenes content, more relaxed stuff that doesn't fit a structured YouTube video.
But I genuinely don't know if that appeals to you or puts you off. So I'm asking.
Would you want that? Or is YouTube plenty?

WHAT DO YOU WANT TO KNOW ABOUT 11TH EDITION?
I know a lot of you have questions.
Some of you are just getting into 40K and wondering what it is all about. Some of you have been playing for years and are watching the leaks with either excitement or the quiet resignation of someone who's been here before.
I want to make content that actually helps you navigate it rather than just reacting to everything.
So tell me in the comments: what do you actually want to know? What would genuinely help you right now?
I'm reading every reply.

WHY GAMING FEELS LIKE A FINANCIAL COMMITMENT NOW
Getting into a new hobby used to cost you a starter set and a Saturday afternoon.
Now it feels like a financial decision that requires a spreadsheet.
A decent Warhammer starter kit. A basic paint range. A rulebook. Before you've rolled a single dice you're looking at well over a hundred quid, and that's before you realise you bought the wrong faction.
I think this puts a lot of people off who would genuinely love it. Not because they can't afford it. Because they're scared of wasting money on something they might not stick with.
It's worth talking about, especially with 11th Edition...let's chat in the comments!
