Dashboard tells me that the channel is now officially 10 years old! It's come a long way from using a camcorder propped up on my window ledge and Windows moviemaker to make videos on how to be an archaeologist. So happy, and surreal to see that 80K people are now interested in what I have to say about archaeology. Which of my videos did you first watch? Which one is your favourite? Let me know in the comments!

This is a link to my first ever video in case you want to see how far I've come (or want to become an archaeologist yourself!): https://youtu.be/BlS55-PTThM

Inside Archaeology

Way back before Youtube I spent 3 summers digging in the Kingdom of Jordan. Each season would end with a trip down to visit Petra (and yes we did all sing the Indiana Jones song as we came to the Treasury)! My profile and banner photo come from my trip there in 2011. A while back (about 70K subscribers ago) I made a video about Petra, a little site tour so to speak, with lots of archaeological info, debunking folklore, and tips on how to plan your own trip there.

What's your favourite ancient place you've visited? Let me know below.

So.....yesterday's video is, relatively speaking, tanking in views at position 9 out of my last 10 uploads, and YT Studio is helpfully saying 'Less of your subscribers are watching this than usual'. Emma is officially offended at my failure to capture your attention and so I am coming to you my viewers for some feedback because clearly all the tools are useless as they told me you'd love this kind of video.
-
I've put a poll here to see what kind of videos you guys WOULD like to watch from me going forward to help me make sure I'm spending my time creating content that is going to help me keep building the channel. If you don't see an option you'd like feel free to add as a comment.
-
If you were simply too busy watching the World Cup that is an audience crossover I didn't know I had but please let me know and if you can take some time between matches to watch I'd appreciate it.

During the premiere on Sunday the channel reached 75,000 subscribers, which is blowing my mind because just 2 years ago I had just 5000. I have been grinding away at YT since 2017 and for a long time it seemed like the channel was going nowhere; I've come close to giving up on it a few times but now I'm really glad I didn't, even if it effectively means I am working 3 jobs (part-time day job, YT, parent). Being able to make videos on archaeology and have people actually watch and enjoy them means so much to me and just goes to show that if you put good content out there people will (eventually) find it. A big heartfelt thank you to everyone who was subscribed, commented, liked, shared, livechatted, and helped me sort out my audio issues. Here's to hitting 100K by the end of 2026!
