Imagine a tradwife influencer being sent back to the 1800s and finding out if she does indeed want to be a a traditional wife…🫣
This is the plot of Yesteryear by Caro Claire Burke! This was my most recent read and I wanted to share my thoughts. ✨🌱
Firstly, what a COOL CONCEPT! I was drawn in to this book after hearing Anne Hathaway is going to star in and produce the film adaptation of the book.
This was NOT what I was expecting. I was truly prepared for a silly heehee haha book but this was thought provoking and bizarre and our main character you love to hate.
If you like fairly easy reads with dual timelines, interesting characters, big twists and constantly thinking “wtf is happening” you’ll love this book LOL

My EGO Controlled My Life: an exploration into instagram, influencing and my desire for validation
This was the highlight of meeting new people at one point in my life. The rush of being able to show off how many people had clicked a button to say they wanted more of me. This must prove to this new person that I am worthy to be around, that I have substance.
And the truth was, a lot of the time it pulled people in. People were drawn to this persona they saw - a successful and clearly likeable woman. Because how could you not be likeable (or perhaps more apt - valuable) with 350k followers?
Huzzah! Never again would I be weeping in my bed over rejections from friends! I had a tiktok that proved I was likeable and people wanted me! What else could I ever need?

MOVING DAY 🚚🌱📦
I am practicing compartmentalizing my feelings today because WOW this is overwhelming! But breaking down won’t be helpful today so I’m setting them to the side and intentionally planning a time to feel them 💛
Thank you for all the birthday wishes and good luck messages on the move!

Do anticipate others needs constantly? You might be a mind reader and that just might be hurting you! 💭🤔
Many neurodivergent people use “mind reading” as a form of people pleasing. By predicting what other people might need we keep ourselves safe - because how could someone be upset with us when we do what they want before they even know they want it?
But here’s the problem with mind reading… this anticipation creates expectations of an outcome. When that outcome is not met, we may blame ourselves, even when it is out of our control.
So what’s the alternative? Practice curiosity instead of anticipation! Get curious by asking people what they need and getting curious about our motivations behind our actions.
Why do I feel responsible for this persons feelings or experience? What might serve me better in this moment?
What do you think? ✨🌱🥰

If you are self-aware but only acknowledge the things you need to change & not the things you do really well - you aren’t being self-aware, you’re just being mean to yourself. -justfrogetaboutit

When I do my journaling practice I always end with a statement or affirmation that solidifies the data I am collecting about myself.
In the last few weeks I have emotionally been on a rollercoaster. But the data doesn’t lie! I AM CAPABLE OF GREAT CHANGE!
Here is a journaling prompt for you if you’re interested in reflecting like I did today 🌸✨
