Thumbnails vs Titles?
I've seen a lot of debate about this on Youtube.
And honestly it's less complicated than most people think...
Let me explain: 👇

imo there's typically 3 types of title/thumbnail formats that do well:

#1 - the title carries the video

#2 - the thumbnail carries the video

#3 - neither/both carry video

I'm going to explain all three.



🧪 1. Title carries the video

An example would be videos like this:
The titles are all very SPECIFIC.
and the thumbnails are all very BROAD.
AKA: the title creates the intrigue
As vague sh*t isn't as interesting...(see image 2)



🧪 2. Thumbnail carries the video

Now this 2nd scenario is the exact opposite.
The titles are all very BROAD.
and the thumbnails are all pretty specific.
AKA: the thumbnail creates the intrigue(see image 3)



🧪 3. Neither/Both carry video

I look at it kinda like a spectrum.
Sometimes titles carry the video.
Sometimes thumbnails carry.
Ideally you combine both.(see image 4)



🧪 The Learning Lesson

When brainstorming a title/thumb
It's good to know:
Okay if we're going with a broad title like:
"Craziest Minecraft Moments"
We're going to need a specific thumbnail to carry this.


Compared to a specific title like:
"this water slide should not exist"
Where the intrigue is more on the title.
and the thumb should visualize that intrigue.


It's definitely more complicated than then how I explained it
And you should definitely test this stuff yourself.
I just don't want people thinking:

"only title matters" or "only thumbnail matters".


Best case scenario is having both a intriguing title AND thumbnail.
MrBeast is the classic example,
As his videos almost always have both.(see image 5)

"How long do u take to write out scripts for youtube?"

maybe a couple of hours, sometimes it can take a whole day if i have to watch other videos for research or if i get distracted.

but usually im done with a script within 2 hours, i have a lot of things to say & youtube is the only time i ever get to say them

1. CONNNNTENNTTT~

You need to make content. Scrolling through twitter all day is not making content.

Stop tweeting, start creating.

2. Research

Believe it or not, but vTubing is more than just being an anime character.

You actually need to research...a lot on so many different things...

3. No Tech? No Problem!

You don't need high end equipment to vTube.

There's tons of resources out there for vTubing on a budget.

4. Collaborate!

Collaborating with others can give you great exposure!

However, you need to be wise about this & don't expect to blow up from their clout.

5. Watch EVERYTHING!

It's important to review your own content even if it's a little cringe.
